Quick ...Peppery Cheese Bread

Love this bread! It's easy and quick to make and you'll love it too. Nothing says Welcome Home like the smell of fresh baked bread just out of the oven!

Quick Peppery Cheese Bread

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 eggs

In a large bowl combine flour, cheese, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and pepper. In a smaller bowl beat eggs, melted butter and buttermilk together with a whisk. Add to flour mixture and mix with a spoon just enough to wet all the ingredients.

Pour mixture into a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan that has just the bottom of the pan sprayed or greased. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before removing from pan. Makes one loaf. Store in refrigerator.

Don't have buttermilk? Make youir own. Place a Tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice in a liquid measuring cup. Add enough milk to bring the liquid up to the one-cup line. Let stand for five minutes. Then, use as much as your recipe calls for.
